HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel mourned the death Saturday of Senator Piedad Córdoba, of the coalition Historic Pact, whom he described as a great friend of Cuba’s, and sent his condolences to the family and friends of the Colombian politician and lawyer.
On his end, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla referred to the deceased as a champion of human rights and the Colombian peace processes.
Other Cuban leaders such as Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman and Gerardo Hernández, national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, as well as organizations like the Federation of Cuban Women, also expressed their sorrow for Ms. Córdoba’s death.
