Havana, Jan 10 (ACN) Russia’s Foreign Ministry marked the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relation with Cuba.
In a Telegram post the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed that Cuba-Russian links will keep developing in a fruitful and intense way in different areas to the benefit of the two nations.
Moscow also expressed its willingness to keep working with Cuba in the defense of sovereignty and independence, and towards the setting up of a new multi-polar world order.
On January 10th, 1959, the former Soviet Union officially recognized the Cuban Revolutionary Government, which laid the foundations for the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in May 1960, an initiative promoted by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz.
Cuba currently is Russia’s major commercial partner in Latin America and its fifth partner at the world level.
