ARTEMISA, Cuba, Dec 20(ACN) More than 7,000 people in this province marched in protest at the massacre that Israel is carrying out against the Palestinian people since October 7.

“From José Martí we learned that nature has placed the need to see justice done in some souls and the need to flout and affront it in others,” said Gledys Crespo Perdomo, an official with the municipal education division, to a crowd of students, workers and provincial authorities. “Palestine needs no truce, but recognition of its territory, its nation and its right to self-determination and sovereignty.”

On his end, Alfredo Felipe Gato Echavarría, president of the Federation of University Students at the Provincial Medical School, remarked that the Cuban public health system considers the genocidal killing of 4,432 children as an incomprehensible and cruel act caused by neoliberal and imperialist plans marked by bombings and bloodshed in the Middle East.

Likewise, third-year law student Darién Alejandro Hernández recalled that Israel's policy of building and expanding its illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land is one of the main driving forces behind the breach of international humanitarian law and the widespread violation of human rights as a result of the invasion.

“From this stage (…) the people of Artemisa join the international condemnation of the Israeli genocide in Palestine; we say no to war; let the aggression against the Palestinian people cease; long live peace!”
