“Declaration of the National Assembly of the People's Power of the Republic of Cuba

“We, the deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, express our outrage at the genocide carried out against the Palestinians, which highlights the failure of diplomacy and of the current international order to prevent such barbaric acts in the 21st century.

“We condemn the killing of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, more than 70% of them children and women, as a result of the indiscriminate bombardments carried out by Israel since October 7. The current situation is the result of 75 years of Israeli practices of illegal occupation and colonization in flagrant violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in their own land.

“We strongly condemn the attacks on hospitals, schools, refugee camps, United Nations centers, mosques and other civil targets and the actions to deprive the Palestinian population of water, food, fuel and humanitarian relief, as well as the assassination of dozens of media professionals, all of which is a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law and International Law and rank as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

“We denounce in the strongest terms the responsibility and complicity of the Government of the United States in this genocide, by obstructing the action of the Security Council through the antidemocratic and obsolete power of veto to protect the excesses of the government of Israel. The impunity with which Israel has historically acted can only be explained by its confidence that there will be no consequences due to the backing of the U.S. government.

“On behalf of the people we represent, we urgently call for an immediate ceasefire and the beginning of negotiations between the parties.

“We reiterate the need for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two States, which would allow the Palestinian people the right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State within their pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
