Cuban president expresses solidarity with Brazil after fire in the southern state of Para



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, expressed today his solidarity with Brazil over the fire at the camp of the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST) in Parauapebas, in the southern state of Para.

Dear Lula, from Cuba our condolences and solidarity in the face of such an unfortunate accident, the Caribbean head of state stated on X, while sending a hug to the Brazilian people.
With his message, Diaz-Canel shared the words of the South American leader after the incident.

My deepest condolences and solidarity with the technicians and campers of Tierra y Libertad for the accident in a transmission line followed by a fire in the camp that left dead and injured, Lula da Silva referred.
According to local media, the fire started due to an electrical short circuit in the Tierra y Libertad camp, causing the death of at least 15 people.

The first reports from the families say that there were technicians working on the internet network near the camp that there was an explosion that caused a fire in the electrical network, also affecting the first huts of the camp, two of them caught fire and were completely destroyed by the flames, explained a statement from the MTS.
