HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, mourned today the victims of the heavy rains registered this weekend in the Dominican Republic.
On X, the Cuban diplomat sent condolences to the families and friends of those who died as a result of the hydrometeorological event which, according to local press reports, numbered 21.
Likewise, Rodriguez Parrilla expressed Cuba's solidarity and the assurance that the Dominican people and government will jointly face such unfortunate adversities.
On Sunday, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) of the Dominican Republic confirmed that of the 21 deaths, 14 are nationals, plus three Haitians and four US citizens.
According to Prensa Latina, the deaths were caused by landslides, overflowing water from streams and creeks, and flooding of streets and buildings, all linked to the heavy rains
