Cuba and Belarus to implement trade and economic agreements

 

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (ACN) At the close of the official visit to Belarus by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, both nations confirmed the shared priority of implementing the agreements reached in the shortest possible time, with the aim of boosting economic and trade relations.

Cuban delegation's stay in the European country, which ended on Sunday, resulted in significant achievements in agro-industrial and biotechnological matters and laid out the road map for new negotiations, the Cuban Presidency stressed.

According to Marrero, in terms of bilateral trade, the agro-industrial issue is the first priority, and in this regard, as part of the work program visited companies related to that activity.

He specified that they intend to advance in the creation of two joint ventures, one for dairy products, based on the use of raw material sent from Belarus, and another for meat products.

Manuel Sobrino, head of the Food Industry, pointed out that work is also being carried out with the Belarusian Academy of Sciences in three main areas: the preservation of food products, the use of extenders and the use of flavors and additives.

The MTZ tractor factory was another of the entities visited in accordance with the interest of both parties to materialize a project for the assembly of equipment in Cuba, its capital repair and the manufacture of spare parts.

Eloy Alvarez Martinez, Cuban Minister of Industries, praised the relevance of this business to achieve food sovereignty and, at the same time, warned about the inclusion, from the beginning, of a focus on exports.

The Akademfarm company was another stop for the Cuban delegation to discuss relevant projects for the development, production and commercialization of medicines.

It was reported that the Cimavax vaccine against non-small cell lung cancer could be used in Belarusian territory, and that with this product there will already be six registered in the European nation.
