Cuban deputy PM begins working visit to China

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 16 (ACN) Ricardo Cabrisas, Cuban deputy prime minister and head of foreign trade and foreign investment, began today a working visit to China that will last until October 26.

According to the Cuban foreign ministry, the senior official will co-chair the XXX Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic, commercial and financial relations between the two nations.

As part of his program, the deputy premier will also meet with senior authorities of the Government and the Communist Party of China ( CCP) and directors of institutions with an impact on economic-commercial relations and bilateral cooperation in priority sectors and high social impact.
During his first day of work, Cabrisas will hold a meeting with members of the Cuban State Mission, as well as visit the facilities of the joint venture Biotech Pharmaceutical Limited (PBL), which has obtained important results in cooperation in the biotechnology sector.

The Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission will strengthen existing ties between the two countries, review and project the main issues of mutual interest in these areas, including scientific-technical issues and bilateral cooperation.

The space will help advance the effective implementation of the consensus reached during the State visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to China in November 2022, renewed during an official bilateral meeting between the two leaders, in the context of the celebration of the XV Brics Summit (August 2023), in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 63 years, Cuba and China have strengthened their close friendship and cooperation ties on the basis of high-level political dialogue, mutual political trust, cooperation in all spheres and a proven and unchanging solidarity, equality and mutual respect between the parties, governments and peoples of both socialist countries.
