Havana, Sept 21 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez ratified in New York the commitment the commitment of Cuba, as temporary chair of the Group of 77 plus China, to the preparations of Summit of the Future, scheduled to be held in September 2024.
In his remarks at the Ministerial Meeting on the Summit of the Future, the Cuban government official stressed the importance of the event, which aims at stepping up the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Summit of the Future will be a one-of-its-kind opportunity to improve cooperation amidst deficiencies in global governance, and also to reaffirm current compromises including the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Chater, according to the Website of the United Nations.
Member states at the upcoming summit will consider how to lay the foundations for new world cooperation relations, which result effective to face the current challenges and new threats.
The Cuban Foreign Minister is in New York as part of the island’s high-level delegation, headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, participating at the 78 Session of the UN General Assembly.
