Cuban Parliament delegation concludes visit to Vietnam

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 20 (ACN) A delegation of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament) concluded today a visit to Vietnam intended to promote cooperation between the two nations.

The members of the Cuban legislature, led by their vice president Ana Maria Mari Machado, closed their agenda with a tribute to the father of national independence, Ho Chi Minh, in the mausoleum that holds his remains.

They also attended the 9th World Conference of Young Parliamentarians and visited the northern province of Bac Ninh, where they were received by the secretary of the local committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Nguyen Anh Tuan.

While in Hanoi, Mari Machado met with her counterpart in the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Quang Phuong, to talk about issues of common interest, such as the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the president of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo, and the agenda for the Cuba-Vietnam inter-parliamentary conference, to be held in 2024.

She also met with the Vietnamese deputy prime minister Le Minh Khai, who holds to be looking forward to a permanent cooperation with Cuba so that both countries can build stronger links and pointed out that the visit of the Cuban parliamentarians took place as the two countries celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the first visit to Vietnam by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
