First Forum of Rectors of Cuba and Belarus begins in Minsk

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 18 (ACN) The relationship between Cuban and Belarusian higher education centers and the training of cadres will be topics of discussion at the 1st Forum of Rectors of both nations, which began today at the State University of Radioelectronics and Informatics, in Minsk.

The Cuban representation, made up of 14 rectors, will exchange views with counterparts from some 30 universities of the European nation, Prensa Latina reported.

Santiago Perez, Havana's ambassador to Belarus, said that the exchanges will focus on areas such as medicine, the mining industry, agriculture and the food industry; hence, the members of the Caribbean delegation are from centers dedicated to training these professionals.
The diplomat said that the event is a proof of the good state of relations between the two countries, especially in education and science, as well as in the practical application of research.

According to the information, during the days of the Forum the Cuban delegation, headed by the deputy minister of higher education, Reynaldo Velazquez, will have a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Education of Belarus and will visit the Academy of Sciences and the Scientific and Technological Park of the National Technical University, among other sites of interest.
