HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) On the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the birthdate of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, a ceremony in his honor was held in the square named after him in Moscow.
Among the attendees were the Hero of the Republic of Cuba Antonio Guerrero and representatives of Russian political organizations, the Moscow Duma, and Cuba friendship associations, as well as members of the Committee Against the Blockade of Cuba, the Fidel Castro Foundation, and the All-Russian Union of Women and Children of War. Joining them were also members of the Cuban Embassy, Cuban officials working in Russia, and local graduates from Cuban schools.
Members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation paraded around the monument, carrying the Cuban flag and portraits of Fidel Castro and Ernesto Guevara.
The participants highlighted Fidel’s importance to contemporary history both in Latin America and around the whole world, as well as the values of patriotism and solidarity that he instilled in the Cuban people and serve as an example for future generations.
