HAVANA, Cuba, May 22 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, mourned the death of Russian deputy minister Petr Aleksandrovich Kucherenko, upon his return to his country after participating in Havana in the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technical Collaboration.
On Twitter, Diaz-Canel sent his condolences to Kucherenko's relatives, as well as to the Russian government and people.
According to an official statement from the Russian ministry of science and higher education, of which Kucherenko was deputy head, during the return flight from Cuba to his country the official fell ill and after receiving medical attention in the Russian city of Mineralnye Vody, he passed away at the age of 46.
According to Prensa Latina, Kucherenko also served as Secretary of State.
