HAVANA, Cuba, May 21 (ACN) U.S. President Joe Biden must remove Cuba from an disgraceful list of alleged sponsors of terrorism, Argentine political scientist Atilio Borón stressed in statements to the press in Buenos Aires.
“If anything characterizes Cuba is precisely having been a victim of terrorism promoted by the Miami-based mafia through shady characters like Luis Posada Carriles, Orlando Bosch and their thugs, who enjoyed the protection of the FBI and the CIA,” he remarked, in reference to the 60-plus year old U.S. blockade of the Island, which violates human rights and the Charter of the United Nations.
“Richard Nephew, one of the theoreticians and advocates of that policy, said that it is about making the sanctioned people suffer as much as possible to provoke an uprising against governments that Washington dislikes,” he pointed out, “but despite so much defamation and aggression, Cuba has the moral prestige that the United States lacks after so many crimes and attacks in the five continents.”
Mr. Borón also condemned the way that Cuban intellectuals, artists or public figures and celebrities are persecuted or blackmailed, as well as the Miami-based online harassment and fake news campaigns designed to discourage, confuse and enrage the population.
