HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), affirmed today in Vietnam that that country is a reference of how much can be achieved with the socialist system.
According to Prensa Latina, Hernandez Nordelo, who is also member of the Parliament, at the head of a CDR delegation that arrived today in Hanoi, held a meeting with the president of the Front of the Homeland of that nation, Do Van Chien.
In the exchange, Cuban official stressed that Vietnam has made a feat in the development achieved, and conveyed to his host Cuba's great and eternal gratitude to Vietnam for its permanent solidarity and support.
The two leaders signed a cooperation agreement between the CDRs and the Fatherland Front for 2023-2028, aimed at strengthening the close ties between the two mass organizations.
The national coordinator of the CDR explained the historical context in which the organization was created on September 28, 1960, at a time when Cuba was subjected to aggressions of all kinds, as well as details of its structure and functioning.
For his part, Do Van Chien said he understood all the difficulties that the Cuban people have been facing for more than 60 years, because once the war ended (1975) they also suffered the blockade from the United States.
He recalled with gratitude the numerous gestures of support and solidarity offered by Cuba to his country and expressed his confidence that, with its usual will and firmness, the Caribbean nation will succeed in overcoming the tightened U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade.
