Cuba defends non-meddling in internal affairs, Diaz-Canel asserts

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (ACN) Cuba defends the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of States and points out that it is up to the Peruvian people to find solutions to their challenges, said Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, on Twitter today.

The situation in Peru is the result of a process led by the dominant oligarchies to subvert the popular will that had elected his government in accordance with the legal system of that country, Cuban leader tweeted.

According to Prensa Latina, on Wednesday, the then Peruvian President Pedro Castillo dissolved the Congress, set up an exceptional emergency government and ordered the reorganization of the Judicial Power, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Constitutional Court.

That same day, the Parliament declared the vacancy (impeachment) of the president for permanent moral incapacity, without complying with the dissolution of the legislature announced on national television hours before.

The text referred that the dismissal was agreed by 101 votes in favor, six against and 10 abstentions and became effective immediately, while Castillo and his family were leaving the presidential residence.
