HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, thanked today the Caribbean nations for their firm demand for the end of the illegal and unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
During his speech at the 8th Caribbean Community (CARICOM)-Cuba Summit in Barbados, he also highlighted the condemnation of the countries of the region to the inclusion of Cuba in the list of State sponsors of terrorism, said Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, minister of Foreign Affairs, in a tweet.
According to Prensa Latina, the president acknowledged the solidarity and support of this group to Cuba during the COVID-19 and after the accidents and natural disasters that occurred on the island this year, which caused the loss of human lives and considerable material damage.
The President appreciated the dignified position of the region in the face of the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the recent 9th Summit of the Americas, held in Los Angeles June 6-10 this year.
Diaz-Canel recalled the words of Army General Raul Castro in 2017, at the meeting held in Antigua and Barbuda, and ratified once again that the Caribbean can always count on Cuba, that's how it has been and how it will be!
