Head of Cuban parliament began official visit to the Republic of Türkiye

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 5 (ACN) Esteban Lazo Hernandez, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, began on Sunday an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye.

"I am convinced that we will make a short but very fruitful visit. We will make good use of the time, we will talk about many issues and reach important agreements, with the broadest sense of solidarity," said the head of the Cuban Parliament at the Ankara airport, where he was received by MP Selman Ozoyaci, president of the Türkiye-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Lazo Hernandez highlighted the importance of the recent visits made to the Eurasian nation by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and president of the country, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, in November, and by the vice president of the National Assembly, Ana Maria Mari Machado, in June this year, respectively; actions that have contributed to the willingness to expand and strengthen inter-parliamentary ties.

This year is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, an event that should serve as a basis with a view to consolidating economic, trade and cooperation ties between our people, he added.

"I believe that, in this endeavor, parliamentary relations are decisive in the interest of strengthening bilateral ties. Such is the aim of visiting them so close to the date of our President's tour: to expand exchanges and cooperation in strategic sectors of mutual interest, Lazo Hernandez continued.

In this sense, deputy Selman Ozoyaci agreed that both the visit of President Miguel Diaz˗Canel, that of the Vice President of the Cuban Parliament, as well as that of Esteban Lazo, show the interest and attention given to our bilateral relations in different areas.
Türkiye is the last stop of the fruitful tour of the head of the Cuban legislature, which previously included Russia and Belarus.
