Havana, Nov 30 (ACN) The Cuban President established official mourning November 1st from 0600 till 12:00 hours local Cuba time for the passing of Jiang Zemin, former general secretary of the Communist Party of China and ex-president of that nation.
Jiang Zemin contributed to the promotion and development of bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and China, which made him deserve the top Cuban Jose Marti order.
Zemin was the only head of state to visit Cuba in 1993 after the fall of the Socialist Camp and the strengthening of the US economic blockade of the island nation, which was considered an invaluable gesture of friendship and trust in the capacity of the Cuban people to overcome the difficulties of that time.
