Havana, Nov 29 (ACN) The President of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Cuban Parliament) and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo, arrived Tuesday in Moscow on an official visit.
Lazo was welcomed at Moscow’s airport by Konstantin Losifovich Kosachev, vice-speaker of the Federation Council (Senate) of Russia’s Federal Assembly and by Cuban ambassador to Moscow Julio Antonio Garmendia, according to the Cuban Parliament’s website.
The Cuban top parliamentarian is scheduled to meet a tight working agenda in Russia, including meetings with speakers of the senate and the lower house (Duma) of the Russian Parliament and with government and political leaders. He will also tour places of historical and cultural interest.
Esteban Lazo, who paid an official visit to Russia in 2016, is accompanied on this occasion by lawmakers Yolanda Ferrer, Chair of the International Relations Commission of the Cuban Parliament, Felix Martinez, Chair of the Economic Affairs Commission; Magda Ileana Perez, vice-chair of the Industry, Construction and Energy Commission and by Marta Hernandez, coordinator of parliamentary commissions.
The Cuban delegation also incudes Havana’s governor Reinaldo Garcia; the president of the Cuba-Russia Friendship Group, Brigadier General Arnaldo Tamayo, and Emilio Lozada, general director for Bilateral Affairs at Cuba’s Foreign Ministry.
Russia is the first leg of a tour that will also take the Cuban Parliament President to Belarus and Türkiye. These visits are expected to deepen bilateral relation with the parliaments of the three nations.
