Communist and workers' parties discuss challenges of left-wing forces against imperialist attack

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (ACN) "United we are stronger" is the slogan of the 22nd edition of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (EIPCO by its Spanish acronym), held in Havana.

The representatives of communist and workers' parties will discuss the enormous challenges facing the forces of the left in the face of the imperialist offensive, in its eagerness to impose its hegemony at the global level, and the imperative need to continue strengthening unity, solidarity and consultation.

According to its organizers, EIPCO was born at a time of great uncertainty for the international communist left, after the collapse of the European socialist bloc and the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Currently, 117 parties belong to EIPCO, whose composition by region is as follows: Europe 62, Latin America and the Caribbean 22, North America two, Africa four Middle East 13, and Asia and Oceania 14.

The formation of the Sao Paulo Forum, Brazil, constituted a Latin American contribution to the purposes of EIPCO, as it is a mechanism for the coordination of left-wing and progressive political parties and movements in Latin America and the Caribbean.
