French Activists Denounce Terrorism against Cuba

Havana, Oct 26 (ACN) France’s Cuba Linda association has launched a media campaign to denounce terrorist actions against Cuba financed and organized from US territory.

The initiative is a response to the 2021 US blacklisting of Cuba as a country sponsored of international terrorism, a strategy to further strengthen the over-60-year economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.

The French activists’ campaign takes place ahead of the vote by the UN General Assembly of the Cuba-sponsored resolution demanding the end of the US blockade, which has been overwhelmingly backed by the international community since 1992 in every annual vote.

Cuba Linda association president Didier Lalande recalled that over the years terrorist attacks against Cuba have included shootings and bomb attempts which have claimed over 3 thousand lives and have left more than two thousand persons suffering from disabilities.

But these actions did not only take place in the past, just recently violent actions were orchestrated against the Cuban embassies in Washington DC (2020) and in Paris (2021), said Lalande.

The French campaign posts images and data about the violent actions and their victims, including the picture of a boy in Cuba claiming from his school the end of the US blockade while raising a poster reading “Mr. Biden, Cuba is not a terrorist country, Cuba wants to live. Lift the blockade.”

In November, the association will send a new group of French visitors to Cuba so that they have a first-hand look at the island’s reality, said Lalande and also announced that his association will hand in to the Cuban Friendship Institute an over-7-thousand-euro donation for the victims of hurricane Ian, as well as medications for the province of Pinar del Rio, the territory hardest hit by the storm.
