HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 2 (ACN) Cuban authorities and institutions sent messages of support to Argentine vice president Cristina Fernandez and condemned the assassination attempt she was the victim of on Thursday, while she was greeting her supporters in the vicinity of her residence.
Army General and leader of the Revolution, Raul Castro Ruz, expressed his solidarity with the Peronist leader and described the attempt on her life as a reprehensible act.
Also, the first Secretary of the Central Committee of the party and president of the country, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, expressed his consternation at the event, while conveying his solidarity to Cristina Fernandez.
The member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, on the same social network rejected the assassination attempt and stressed that the Argentine people respect, love and protect their vice president.
For his part, foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla condemned the unfortunate event and expressed his support for the Argentine vice president, as well as for the people and government of that South American country.
Likewise, a message from Casa de las Americas on the event emphasizes that the aim is to wipe out those who persevere for justice and truth.
The event took place on Thursday night, when the former president was greeting her supporters next to her house in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires, during a vigil in rejection of the claims of the Public Prosecutor's Office to 12 years of imprisonment for alleged corruption crimes.
According to official Argentine government sources, the man pointed a gun at Cristina Fernandez's head and pulled the trigger, but the gun, which contained five bullets, did not go off.
