HAVANA, Cuba, May 9 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, ratified today on Twitter that Mexico will always count on Cuba.
The Cuban leader affirmed this on the occasion of the first official visit of the Central American country's head of state, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, adding that the Revolution will continue its victorious course of hope and future.
In another tweet, he stated that relations between Mexico and Cuba are historic and endearing, and accompanied it with the hashtag #CubaNoEstaSola.
During his brief stay on the island, Lopez Obrador received the highest award granted by the Cuban government: the Jose Marti Order.
The heads of state signed a bilateral agreement to strengthen cooperation in areas such as education, sports, culture and human resources training.
Likewise, the Cuban minister of health, Jose Angel Portal, and the secretary for that sector in Mexico, Jorge Carlos Alcocer, signed an agreement to favor the training of human resources and assistance in different health areas.
Lopez Obrador arrived in Cuba on Saturday, on the last stop of an official tour of Central America and the Caribbean.
