Cuba regrets deaths and injuries in Haiti due to tanker explosion



HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 15 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez convened Cuba's deepest condolences to the people and government of Haiti for the loss of human lives after the explosion of a tanker truck in the town of Cap-Haitien.

In a message on Twitter, Minister Rodriguez extended his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.

"We convey our heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Haiti for the loss of human lives and the injured caused by the explosion of a tanker truck in the town of Cap-Haitien. These condolences are extended to the families and relatives of the victims," he tweeted.

On Wednesday, 62 people were killed in the accident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Following the unfortunate event, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry said at the scene of the tragedy that his heart was "broken" for the dozens of injured at the Justinien hospital.

According to the authorities of Cap-Haïtien, where the accident occurred, the tanker overturned on the road after the driver tried to avoid a motorcycle cab.

Despite warnings, local residents approached the tanker to obtain the fuel, and during this operation the vehicle exploded.
