
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 13 (ACN) Cuba and the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia) are united by close ties of friendship and cooperation.
Cuba gives special significance to the development of close and multifaceted cooperation with that bloc in fields of mutual interest such as trade, energy, transportation, tourism, the iron and steel industry, mining, public health, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
Russia has become one of the main emitters of tourists to the Caribbean island and for the first half of next year, both countries are expected to sign a mutual cooperation agreement on higher education.
In addition, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Cuban deputy prime minister recently made a busy working visit to that nation, where he held meetings with Alexander Chupriyan, acting minister of Civil Defense, Emergency and Elimination of the consequences of Natural Disasters; with Vadim Sorokin, president of the GAZ Group; and with Sergey I.

As a result of the visit to Cuba of Serguey Glasiev, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), a broad program will be developed this week to promote cooperation between Cuba and this regional bloc.
As part of the agenda, the second session of the Joint Commission with the EEC was held today and the signing of the Joint Collaboration Plan for the 2021-2025 period is scheduled.
Likewise, on December 14 and 15, the Seminar "Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU): cooperation in the context of the restructuring of the world economy" will be held.
The event will be attended by a broad representation of national organizations, institutions and entities, who will exchange with counterparts from the regional bloc on issues of great interest to both parties and marked by mutual learning and academic debate.
Cuba participated for the first time in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the highest body of the Union, on December 11, 2020, when it was granted the status of Observer State.
