Havana, Dec 3 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said that the joining by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) of China’s Belt and Road Initiative will open new opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefits.
On his official Twitter account, the Cuban foreign minister expressed his country’s support of the global development initiative and welcomed the proposal to hold the CELAC-China Summit in 2024.
The Belt and Road Initiative, launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 aims at building an infrastructure and communication network to reactivate old trade routes as it happened with the ancient Silk Road in the II Century B.C.
The Chinese initiative is an effort to improve regional cooperation and counter actions by other powers like the United States, which only lead to bilateral conflicts.
