Cuba refutes false accusations of interference in U.S. elections

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 17 (ACN) The director general of the United States Division of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), Carlos Fernández de Cossío, ratified today the falsity of the allegations regarding Havana's interference in the U.S. elections.

In a message on his Twitter account, the diplomat stressed that the government of Washington itself confirms the lack of evidence about such slanders, spread for propaganda and defamation purposes, and pointed out that the lie is part of the dirty war against Cuba.

A lawyer involved in former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign said in a press conference last November that "communist money" had been used to influence the elections, allegedly by Cuba, Venezuela and China. However, the U.S. Infrastructure Security and Cybersecurity Agency dismissed the possibility of election security breaches, calling them the safest in history.

At the time, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez underscored that his country does not interfere in the electoral process of other States and that its foreign policy s is based on ethical principles opposed to any involvement in the internal affairs of other nations.
