HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 27 (ACN) Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, ratified the need to allocate more funds to healthcare systems at a meeting of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
During the 38th session of the entity, the minister recalled that the region accumulates almost half of the Covid-19 cases worldwide, so it is urgent to make decisions.
It is a devastating crisis, which highlighted gaps and inequalities that make it difficult to provide responses, and that warns about the urgency of investing more in healthcare, he noted.
In that sense, Malmierca pointed out the need to analyze the aftermaths of the pandemic and guarantee the welfare of the peoples, for which the countries must jointly work in an innovative way and transform development patterns.
The decision about the world we want to live in after Covid-19 is in our hands, let's take advantage of it, the minister urged on the virtual event.
