HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 13 (ACN) French academic and essayist Salim Lamrani today that US aggressiveness against Cuba and the tightening of the blockade as its spearhead is a policy destined to fail.
'Such hostility is doomed to failure, as the only viable policy with Cuba is one based on sovereign equality, reciprocity and non-interference in internal affairs,' the renowned academic told Prensa Latina about the reality and the history of the Caribbean island.
According to Lamrani, Washington should understand that the Caribbean nation's destiny depends exclusively on the sovereign will of the Cuban people.
The current White House administration, led by President Donald Trump, persists in the aggressive policy, despite the almost unanimous rejection by the international community to the blockade and the attack it represents against the basic principles of the International Law, he regretted.
Lamrani showed expectations that the November 3 elections in the United States would mark a return to the rapprochement Barack Obama initiated towards the island, a 2015 and 2016 stage in which, although the blockade continued, Washington and Havana resumed their relations, signed about 20 cooperation agreements and maintained a top-level political dialogue.
