Cuban ambassador to Japan held meeting with leader of Matsumoto Foundation


HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 29 (ACN) Cuban ambassador to Japan, Miguel Angel Ramirez, held an exchange with Matsumoto Kenichi, founder and president of the Matsumoto Foundation, which since 2013 fosters the development of international medical personnel.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation of COVID-19 in both nations, and Ramirez offered a detailed explanation on the protocols and medicines that Cuba is applying to combat the pandemic, many of them created in national scientific centers, the Cuban foreign ministry reported.
Matsumoto, who is also founder and president of the company Sakura Global Holding Co. Ltd, and of the Japanese Federation of Medical Devices Associations, ratified his willingness to continue the links with Cuba, both commercially and in terms of cooperation.
He also recalled the signing in 2019 of a five-year MoU with the Latin American School of Medicine for the delivery of a donation for the development of human resources in health care.
Hasegawa Fujiko, director of the Foundation and professor at the Tokyo university, was also present at the meeting, along with Iida Toru, advisor to the company, and other officials from the Cuban embassy.
