HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (ACN) The Greek Communist Party's voice of condemnation of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and its support for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve medical contingent was heard on Sunday at the organization's youth festival, Prensa Latina reported.
At the closing ceremony of the 46th edition of the event, the party's secretary general, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, addressed the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world to highlight Cuba's humanist and supportive role in helping other nations with the Henry Reeve contingent of health professionals.
The Greek communist party (KKE) supports the initiative to request the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to these Cuban medical brigades, the leader remarked.
Cuba is capable of carrying out that internationalist work in spite of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade, which is unjust and deplorable, he added.
The event, held under the protection measures against the virus, was attended by the Cuban ambassador to Greece, Zelmys Maria Dominguez, who personally thanked KKE and the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) for their solidarity support to her country.
KNE made public and issued a statement of solidarity with Cuba and support for the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Cuban doctors.
