HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) Cuban weightlifter Emanuel de la Rosa (79 kg) will seek Cuba's first gold medal today in the weightlifting competition at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion.
The 19-year-old Cuban earned three titles at the 2025 Havana Pan American Junior Weightlifting Championships, with lifts of 140 kg in the snatch and 170 kg in the clean and jerk, and a 310 kg biathlon.His strength holds Cuba's best chance of winning this tournament.
Later, Lisney Adame will compete in the women's 63 kg category, seeking to reach the podium.
Cuba will conclude its weightlifting competition tomorrow, Friday, when Erdilianys Chamizo (69 kg) and Jonathan Villalonga (98 kg) will take to the platform.
Villalonga will be the last Cuban in the competition, which concludes on Saturday with the top divisions for each gender.
