Cuban Echazabal wins gold at 100m hurdles at ASU 2025



HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) Cuban Jocelyn Echazabal confirmed her favoritism and won the 100m hurdles at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games Asuncion 2025.

Echazabal, who had impressed on Tuesday with a new Junior Pan American record in the semifinals (12.95) and a personal best, crossed the finish line first with a time of 13.29 seconds, set on the track at the Olympic Park in Paraguay.

The 20-year-old Cuban was the undisputed star of the race, starting from lane four with a solid start (0.157 reaction) that helped her dominate the rest of the finalists.

Maya Rollins of Barbados took the silver medal with a time of 13.51 seconds, and Brazilian Lays Silva completed the podium with a time of 13.60.

In this competition, Jocelyn Echazabal not only added Cuba's fourth gold medal, but also maintained the archipelago's dominance in the 100m hurdles by surpassing the record set by Greisys Robles in the final of the 2021 Cali Valle event.
