HAVANA, Cuba, August 15 (ACN) The three Cuban taekwondo athletes are ready today to make their debut tomorrow at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, after completing training sessions that sharpened their reflexes and aspirations.
The team is made up of Yoikel Daniel Goicochea in the over 80 kg division, Elianet Maria Crespo (+67 kg), and Anaicel Leon (-67 kg), led by young coach Arnoy Rojas.
They arrived after qualifying based on the continental ranking and have based on rigorous pre-match sessions focused on fine-tuning coordination, speed, and adaptation to the weather, without yet setting foot in the Urban Sports Center, the official venue for the competition.
In these practices, the three athletes adjusted combinations, improved their balance, and worked on the fluidity of their defense-attack transitions, under the watchful eye of their coach, according to reports from the venue.
Goicochea, recent champion of the 4th PanAm Series in Queretaro, Mexico, carries the highest expectations, reinforced by the heritage of his mother, former basketball player Dalia Henry.
Crespo, third in the continental rankings, and Leon, seventh, complete a group that blends youth, discipline, and confidence that, this time, Cuban Taekwondo can break the golden silence of the first version in Cali-Valle 2021.
