HAVANA, Cuba, August 12 (ACN) Cuban archers Elaimis García and Abraham Pérez won the bronze medal in the mixed recurve team event of the II Junior Pan American Games, under way in Asunción, Paraguay, after beating their Bermudan counterparts 6-2.
It was a memorable victory inasmuch as they won Cuba’s first medal ever in regional events.
On the road to the podium, García and Pérez defeated Ecuador and Mexico (both by 6-2) in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals, respectively, and then lost to Colombia in the semifinals and the chance to compete for the gold.
This result, which marked the final competition of Cuba’s three-strong archery team in the Games, gave the island its second medal in Asunción 2025.
