HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 11 (ACN) Cubans Elaimis Garcia Ramos and Abraham Perez Gonzalez will compete for the bronze medal in the mixed recurve team competition this Tuesday, after losing in the 5x4 semifinals to Colombia, on the first day of archery competitions at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games Asuncion 2025.
Garcia Ramos and Perez Gonzalez redeemed their defeat at the highest price by forcing extra shots, after erasing a 4-0 deficit in the first two sets against the Colombians, who in the decisive round scored two 10s, leaving the Cubans with no chance.
The Cuban duo will fight for a place on the awards podium against Robin Selley and Jaydon Roberts, representing Bermuda, who were defeated by US Emma Kim and Jack Krengel by a score of 5-3.
During their road through the tournament, Elaimis and Abraham defeated Ecuador and Mexico 6-2 in the round of 16 and quarterfinals, in that order, until they met their Colombian rivals, who will compete for the title against the United States.
Both archers will continue in action Monday, as the 17-year-old qualified directly for the top 16, where she will face Emma Kim.
He will do the same in the round of 32, facing Guatemalan Christian Garcia, following the results of the individual qualifiers held Sunday morning at the National Center.
