HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 4 (ACN) Cuban diver Anisley Garcia was left out of the final of the 10-meter platform of the first phase of the World Cup and will try today to be included among the finalists of the three-meter springboard, based in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Anisley, a double semifinalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, did not accumulate what was expected jumping from the highest height - her main event - mainly due to the failure in the execution of the three-and-a-half twist jump on the inside.
In that jump she achieved a total of 259.37 points and finished in 18th place.
To advance to the medal discussion, Garcia needed to be among the top 12 in the qualifying round, a phase dominated by China's Quan Hongchan (390.40), Olympic champion of the multisport event in the City of Light.
The outstanding Cuban diver arrived in Guadalajara from the Canadian city of Montreal, where she has been preparing for several months thanks to a scholarship sponsored by World Aquatics.
Friday, Anisley will compete in the individual three-meter springboard event, in which she has shown an upward performance in her most recent presentations.
Next week, the Central Caribbean multi medalist will take on the second stop of the World Cup, to be held in the Canadian city of Windsor.
His next major competition of the season will be the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, scheduled for the end of July.
