Havana, March 20 (ACN) Cuba’s Olympic Committee extended congratulations to Zimbabwean ex-swimmer Kirsty Coventry after having been elected as the first woman ever to lead the International Olympic Committee.
In a Facebook message the Cuban committee wished Coventry success and reiterated its commitment to keep contributing to the world entity with everything possible.
The imprint of the 41-year-old Zimbabwean ex-swimmer, two times Olympic champ, will make a significant contribution to international sports, the message stresses.
The Cuban committee also celebrated the election of German Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee since 2013, as honorary and life President of that entity.
