Cuban handball got off to a bad start in President’s Cup



HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 22 (ACN) Cuba suffered its fourth defeat in the Men's World Handball Championship after losing 26-39 to Bahrain in the beginning of the President's Cup that the eight eliminated are fighting out to get a place between 25th and 32nd of the tournament.

Despite the fact that the Cubans scored more goals than in any of their previous games, they had the worst percentage of effective shots (49%) and Bahrain called the shots from start to finish.

Next on Team Cuba’s schedule are the United States on the 24th and Japan on the 26th to close the qualifying stage.

Cuba has competed in eight World Championships, with an eighth place in Egypt 1999 as its best result in these events.
