Cuba to attend Mayan Wind Fest 2025 sailing tournament in Cancun



 HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 17 (ACN) Cuba will participate from today until the 19th at the Wind Fest tournament in Cancun, Mexico, a qualifying event for the 2nd edition of the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, scheduled to be held August 9 to 23.

After a first day on Thursday, in which the registrations and practice races for the modalities were held, Cubans will start action in the series of cumulative races that will define the winners of each one.

The team of the Caribbean island is made up of five athletes and a coach, led by the 48-year-old national commissioner, Anayansi Perez, a windsurfer of the Mistral class who participated in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, where she finished in 27th place.

On Tuesday, Lisbetzi Rojo Salazar, who will compete in the ILCA 6 class, Rafael Osorio Duran (ILCA 7), Elizabeth Buchillon Lorenzo (IQ-FOIL) and Miguel Angel Diaz Abat (IQ-FOIL), with Anayansi, silver medalist at the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2013, in the lead, left for Cancun.

The selection is completed with Adriano Castro Ortiz (Kite Foil), sailor who arrived in the venue since last week with his coach Darien Ramirez.

On the beaches of Puerto Cancun will be discussed three places to the junior multi-sport event of Asuncion in ILCA 7 and the same number in ILCA 6, four places will be distributed in iQFOiL -two for each sex- and also four in Kite formula, as announced by the organizers.
