HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 24 (ACN) Cuba will seek another two wins today at the Budva 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships with Kevin Alejandro Sanchez (54 kg) and Yurisniel Abreu (75 kg), who will try to emulate their teammate Javier Alexander Rawlins (86 kg), winner of his fight against the Turkish Nege Huseyi Tekdemir.
Sanchez and Abreu will be opposite Azerbaijan's Omar Aslani and Albania's Amar Koci, respectively.
Two additional victories would be valuable to the Cuban team’s goal of doing better than in La Nucia 2022, where the island notched up two gold, one silver and three bronze medals, for an all-time leading record of 79-23-31, and leads the historical.
The 2024 event in Montenegro gathers 593 boxers—413 men and 180 women—from 73 countries.
