Cuba notched up a perfect game in U12 Pan American Baseball Championship



HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (ACN) Cuban pitchers threw a perfect game in their 4-0 victory over Brazil in the U12 Pan Am Baseball Championship, under way in Panama, and kept his hopes of getting one of the three tickets to the World Cup.

Rydel Perez boasted a top-class performance from the mound of the Rod Carew National Stadium to take the credit, allowing no hits, striking six batters and walking none, good enough to score the first perfect game of the event.

Team Cuba also has to resume the game against Puerto Rico started in the opener and then cancelled due to the rain when Cuba had a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

After losing to the Dominican Republic and notching up a shutout against Argentina, the Cubans are forced to beat the as yet undefeated Puerto Ricans today and the Venezuelans tomorrow to qualify for the semifinals without having to rely on the tie-breaking system or the results of the other teams.
