Cuba achieves first victory at Pan American Baseball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (ACN) The U12 Cuban team overwhelmed its Argentinean counterpart 15-0 today and registered its first victory in the Pan American Championship being held in Panama, which offers three tickets to the 2025 World Championship.

The Cuban team led by Vladimir Vargas, who lost yesterday to the Dominican Republic with a final score of 1-6, took revenge on the South Americans and with an attack of 10 hits, took advantage of the deficiencies of their rivals to impose their favoritism on the field of the Andy Alonso Municipal Stadium.

A total of 12 runs allowed in the same first inning showed the obvious inferiority of the Argentinian pitchers, who are well below the average quality of this tournament.

After this result, the Dominican Republic has two wins at the top of bracket B followed by Puerto Rico and Venezuela, teams that won their first match, Cuba has one success and one setback and Argentina and Brazil have a pair of defeats each.

In bracket A, Colombia, Panama and the United States are undefeated in one game, Mexico has a 1-1 record, Ecuador has one loss and Nicaragua has lost twice.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Cubans will face Brazil and then Thursday Venezuela to conclude the group stage, although the challenge against Puerto Rico, sealed by rain in the first inning when they were leading 2-0, is still pending.
