Cuba to welcome today Paralympic delegation to Paris 2024

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 9 (ACN) Cuban delegation that represented us in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will return today to the homeland in the evening, so it will be welcomed after a performance that once again has raised admiration and affection in our people.

Headed by the 11-time starter in these events, Omara Durand, along with her will arrive all the champions and other members of the delegation, according to a press release from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder by its Spanish acronym).

The statement added that technicians, medical personnel and directors will receive the hug of the country's authorities upon their arrival, who have followed from the first moment the entire performance, full of emotion, dedication and loyalty to the Revolution, as has always characterized Cuban athletes with disabilities.

The total number of medals won: six titles, three silver medals and one bronze medal gave them a meritorious 24th place among the participating countries, also as a result of the Cuban sports movement, although the most important thing in this type of sports competition is not the podiums, but the human being and the values formed in a society like ours, the press release said.

It also pointed out that tomorrow, Tuesday, one day after their arrival, they will be officially welcomed at the Ciudad Deportiva, from where they will go on a tour of several groups from different sectors, which will have the opportunity, on behalf of all Cubans, to pay them the most heartfelt affection and affection for their performances.

Among the institutions to be visited are the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), the special school Solidarity with Panama, the Cuban International Tobacco Company (ICT) and the Martires de Barbados sports training school.

As expressed by the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, in several messages on X, this delegation shook the homeland by their example, talent, gratitude and loyalty.
