HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 6 (ACN) Cuba's star sprinter Omara Durand qualified today to the semifinals of the 200 meters (m), category T12 (profoundly visually impaired), at the Paralympic Games of Paris 2024, which will conclude next Sunday.
Durand and his guide Junior Kindelan won their elimination heat with the best time of that round, 24.78 seconds (s), and were the only ones to go under 25.00 s, to ratify their strong chances of winning the gold medal.
Friday, at the Stade de France, both will try to advance to the final of this event, which will be tomorrow, Saturday.
Durand, owner of 14 gold medals in World Championships and 10 Paralympic titles, will be looking to add to her glory in what will be her farewell to the athletics.
So far, Cuban delegation has four gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal in Paris 2024.
