HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 3 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated Guillermo Varona on his gold medal, the island’s third at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
Díaz-Canel remarked that the para athlete, who is the current world champion, finished one step away from the podium in Tokyo 2020, but this time outplayed everyone to become Paralympic champion with a 66.14m throw, his best ever.
On Tuesday, Cuba also notched up the gold medals won by the long jumper Robiel Yankiel Sol and the runner Omara Durán.
