HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 3 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, congratulated today Robiel Yankiel Sol, winner of the first gold medal for Cuba at the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.
Cuba admires your talent, serenity and persistence, the head of state said on X about the 21-year-old, who on Tuesday won the title in the long jump T47 (with a mark of 7.41 meters), becoming a two-time Paralympic champion.
Neither the rain, nor the sporting rivalry, nor the limitations faced by Cuban athletes kept him from his purpose, Diaz-Canel stressed in his congratulatory message.
Robiel Yankiel Sol, world record holder (7.84) and champion in the previous Tokyo 2020 Games, won the title in his fourth jump, after a valid series of 7.25, 6.44, 7.41 and 7.22, and two invalid ones.
