HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 30 (ACN) Cuba will face Libya today in search of the victory that will keep it in the search for the ninth and 12th places in the U17 men's volleyball World Championship, to be held until Saturday in Sofia, Bulgaria.
According to the site of the International Federation www.fivb.com, Cubans will face the Libyans after achieving their first victory in the tournament, since they finished in fourth and last place in Group C with three setbacks in a row, and another in the round of 16.
On Thursday, the Caribbean nation defeated Tunisia 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-21) in the match for the ninth through 16th places, a result that guaranteed them at least a ninth-place finish.
Libya also won on Thursday with a 3-2 success against Puerto Rico, a team that will face Tunisia for the 13th to 16th places.
Besides the Cuba-Libya match, Mexico and Bulgaria will also be in action, while Chile and Uzbekistan will play alongside the Puerto Ricans and Tunisians.
Thursday's program is completed with the Iran-Brazil and Egypt-Bulgaria challenges, for places five and eight, and Argentina-Spain and China-Italy Taipei, in the semifinal.
