HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (ACN) Cuba will be opposite Tunisia today to play for a place between 9 and 16 in the 1st U17 Men's Volleyball World Championships, under way in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Team Cuba finished in fourth—and last—place in pool play, with no wins and three losses, the last one to Spain in a hard-fought game.
The Cubans outmatched the Spaniards in attacks (55-52) and notched up two more points for opponent errors. Spain prevailed in blocks (15-10), and both teams were tied in serves (5-5).
Individually, the captains of the two teams, Cesar Irache for Spain and Yosdani Medina for Cuba, were the top scorers of the match, with 23 and 22 points, respectively.
